Jack Broughton
Hi, I’m Jack! I have been working in game development for over a decade with over 8 years as a Game Designer.
I’ve worked mostly on mobile games such as Golf Clash and a large unreleased project at Playdemic. I also have console/PC experience having worked on Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League and 2 unreleased projects at TT Games.
Game Design Portfolio
Playdemic (EA North) - Golf Clash
Senior Game Designer - September 2023 to Present
I rejoined Playdemic as a Senior Game Designer working on the massive mobile game Golf Clash. I joined the feature design team which has now grown to 4 people. Working on features has allowed me to create designs that have led to generating millions of dollars in revenue.
My job includes:
Concept design creation - Identifying existing problems or being given opportunities to improve the game and then creating a concept/pitch design document.
“One Page” design creation - This involves expanding on the concept documentation and putting together a much more clear image of what the feature will be.
Finally a full GDD for the feature, this includes all the relevant documentation for all departments, wireframes and flows.
As a Senior designer I run design feedback sessions and act as a first point of contact to the rest of the feature design team.
I’ll go into further detail on my role and the features I’ve worked on in the link below.
TT Games - Unannounced Projects + Suicide Squad
Game Designer - August 2021 to September 2023
When moving to TT Games I continued to work on the unannounced mobile game I was previously working on at Playdemic.
After a few months I moved onto a unannounced console project using UE5, this had me working on gameplay design and also crafting combat encounters.
I later moved onto a unannounced DLC where I almost entirely focused on combat encounters and dabbling in a little bit of level design.
I finally ended up working on Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League for around half a year as a “RPG Designer”. This was my first credit as a Game Designer, I focused mostly on tweaking talents and gameplay. Fixing many bugs towards the end of development.
Game Designer - December 2019 to August 2021
Junior Game Designer - December 2017 to December 2019
Playdemic (WB) - Unannounced Project
My first time at Playdemic I worked there for around 3 and a half years. At Playdemic I had been working on an unreleased mobile game in partnership with TT Games. Unfortunately this means I cannot share any images or go in to great detail about what I have created which is a shame because the game itself is really interesting.
I was promoted from Junior Game Designer to Game Designer after 2 years. I was trusted with working very closely with production and our creative lead to help shape the game. I was often the main point of contact for those with design questions and often trusted by product and the creative lead to make tough design decisions.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Early tasks included scripting levels using XML
Working closely with the producers and creative lead to create game design documents for mechanics and features needed
Presenting my documents to the wider team for discussion and implementation
“Owning” large aspects of the game and being the go to person for it
Working closely with coders to implement and iterate on designs given
Helping create tools that all of the design department use
Attending meetings with 3rd parties to discuss features of the game as well as receive feedback to iterate on
Rockstar Games - GTA 5
Game Tester - July 2014 to October 2015
I worked at Rockstar Lincoln as a Game Tester mostly focusing on next gen GTA V multiplayer. I worked night shifts for the majority of my time and got to learn a lot about how AAA games in the industry are made.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Create bug reports
Testing on a variety of platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mobile)
Large Multiplayer testing
Bug regression
Game Playthroughs
Personal Projects
These are mostly prototypes or older projects/gamejams. I’m hoping to start creating new stuff soon!
